ITINERARY
The expedition/workshop begins Friday April 16th at 7:30 AM. and
concludes Sunday April 18th at 7:30 P.M.

A specific daily schedule will be presented on our first day, and will be
determined by local weather conditions.

Each day will be visiting a number of spectacular pre-determined locations in Carmel, Big Sur and on the Monterey Bay. We will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in landscapes both grand and intimate during the height of springtime splendor. Co-existing in these Edens, we will have the privilege to experience and document a diversity of iconic wildlife.

During this expedition/workshop expect to see a variety of dramatic seascapes, mountainous landscapes, waterfalls, rivers and fields of wildflowers to name a few. Every effort will be made to see at close proximity Sea Otters, Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Whales as well as a variety of shorebirds such as Pelicans, Seagulls, Egrets, Cormorants, Albatross and more. We may also encounter raptors such as Red-tailed Hawks or Bald Eagles as well as other birds such as Turkey Vultures and the California Condor.

In addition, we have scheduled a private boat charter so that we may fully explore a special wildlife habitat only reached by water, which will bring us in close proximity to the wildlife we are seeking. This will be a calm charter and will take place in protected waters so should not be feared by those who normally avoid boats.

EXPEDITION/WORKSHOP NOTES
This trip is designed as a beginner through intermediate photographic expedition and workshop. As such, you will have an accomplished, professional photographer in the field guiding you throughout the expedition. We will be covering both artistic and technical aspects of photography during the workshop. Bring an “adventurous spirit,” as we will maintain a patient and “never stop exploring” philosophy while in the field. We will be rewarded for this extra effort. Be prepared for a visual feast! In the morning we will journey into the field to explore, returning for lunch. Each day, there will be a midday formal lecture at our location in Carmel where we will be covering various aspects of photography. In the afternoon, we return to the field once more for further explorations into the surrounding area. After sunset, we return to Carmel, where you are at your leisure to relax and explore Carmel’s numerous and magnificent restaurants. Throughout the expedition, there will be plenty of time for answers to specific questions both artistic and technical as well as personal attention. Although the workshop’s emphasis is on photography, all experience levels and all formats (film and digital) are welcome. This is an extraordinary trip whether you want to photograph, or just experience the best that California’s central coast has to offer.

LUNCH
We will have snacks, juices and water while on location and available throughout the day. Gourmet lunch will be served at our midday lecture location so that we may maximize our time together. A menu selection will be available ahead of time for you to choose from.
